Wanda Kay's School of Dance

Claire Crawford

At the age of three Claire begin taking dance and immediately fell in love with it. As Claire grew up she gained experience in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern dance from her childhood studio. When Claire graduated from West Craven High School she went to Meredith College and pursued a degree in Dance Studies. While at Meredith she got to choreograph and perform in the dance programs pre professional show "Dance Works" all four years. She was also active as a stage manager and lights operator for dance and theatre productions. Meredith College also gave her the opportunity to student teach at studios in Raleigh. After graduating from Meredith College she began teaching at Wanda Kay's School of Dance full time. While there she choreographed and taught all classes that were offered for the 2017 season. At the end of the 2017 dance year Claire Crawford purchased Wanda Kay's School of Dance and is the current owner. While at Wanda Kay’s Claire has established a multi leveled competition team and has added multiple new classes to the schedule. Claire’s teaching has a big emphasis on proper technique and alignment that she accredits to her dance professors at Meredith College. This will be Claire’s third year teaching at Wanda Kay’s. She is excited to continue sharing her love of dance with her students.

Tabi Taylor

Tabbi Taylor started dancing at Wanda Kay’s School of Dance at age 3 and continued for 15 years until she graduated from New Bern High School. During her high school years she was on the New Bern High School Drill Team. She was Dance Captain her Junior and Senior Year, after graduating she continued with the Drill Team as Assistant Coach for the 2005-2006 season. Tabetha went on to study Dance Education at East Carolina University. She studied Ballet under Joseph Carow of the American Ballet Theatre, Elie Lazar of the Joffrey Ballet, and Timour Bourtasenkov from the Carolina Ballet. Jazz from the amazing Tommi Galaska. Modern, Contemporary & Improvisation from Patti Weeks, Dr. Dawn Clark, Madeleine Reber, Autumn Waddell, John Dixon and Rodger Belman whom danced for Twyla Tharp and Laura Dean. Tap studies with Clarine Powell. Mrs. Tabbi has also had training and/or teaching experience in Hip Hop, Partnering, Lyrical, Creative Movement, and Pointe to make her a more well-rounded dancer and teacher. Mrs. Tabbi has continued her dance education since college to take classes, workshops and seminars from many of the top dancer and Emmy Award winning choreographers such as Mia Michaels, Stacey Tookey, Tricia Miranda, Marinda Davis, Rhonda Miller, Rachelle Rak, and Denise Wall as well as many others. This is Mrs. Tabbi’s 6th year teaching in a studio setting and she is returning for her 2nd year to teach at Wanda Kay’s School of Dance. She strives to challenge, inspire, and prepare individuals to achieve their dreams through a foundation of dance knowledge, style, and technique. When she is not in the studio dancing and teaching she is a full-time stay at home mom to her wonderful son Lucas and loving wife to her amazing husband Brandon.

Baylee Gibson

Baylee was a 15 year graduate from Wanda Kay’s and has been dancing since age 3. She was a student assistant at Wanda Kay’s throughout high school and assisted class instruction for two and a half years after graduating. She enjoys all aspects of dance but is technique driven and has a love for tap. She graduated from New Bern High School in 2015 and is working towards a degree in elementary education with hopes of continuing dance instruction upon completion of her degree. She has a love for dance that was shown during her time in class and is now being shown in her instruction of dance. She is excited to teach and cannot wait to share her love for dance with the students of Wanda Kay’s.

Autumn Felton

Autumn Felton is a senior at New Bern High School. She is involved in the New Bern High School Marching Band and is fortunate to be Drum Major for the second consecutive year. While in school Autumn is president of Tri-M and a member of National Honor Society. This past year she was rewarded the pleasure of being a Junior Marshall for the graduating class of 2019. Outside of school Autumn is a 15 year dancer at Wanda Kay’s. She a returning member to the award winning competition team. While on the team her fellow peers awarded her the position of being team captain. Autumn’s two favorite styles of dance are jazz and hip hop. This upcoming dance season Autumn is fortunate to be one of many returning teacher. She is ecstatic to connect with the students and to build a love for dance as her previous teachers did for her through her hip hop classes!​
